Privacy
We collect the minimum a form needs, we tell you what each one is for, and we never put personal data in a URL. This page describes what actually happens, not what a generic template would say.
What we collect
Reading the index, the market pages, or the archive requires no account, and we ask you for nothing unless you submit a form. We do measure traffic, and the paragraph below says exactly how, because a notice that claimed otherwise would be wrong.
- Enquiries. When you request a report or a call, we receive the name and work email you enter and the market the request relates to, so we can answer it.
- The dispatch. Subscribing stores your email address, the consent you gave, and which page you subscribed from. It is used to send the monthly issue and nothing else.
- Contact messages. The contact form sends us your name, email, chosen topic, and message.
- Traffic measurement. The public pages use Google Analytics, which sets a cookie holding a random identifier and reports which pages were read, what referred you, your approximate location from your IP address, and your browser and device type. It tells us which markets people care about; it is not tied to your name or email, and we have not enabled Google’s cross-site advertising features. Nothing is measured on the editor pages. You can block it with your browser’s tracking protection or Google’s own opt-out add-on.
How it is handled
- Consent is explicit. The dispatch requires a ticked consent box, and that consent is re-checked on the server before anything is stored. An unconsented address is never saved.
- Never sold or shared. We do not sell, rent, or share your details with third parties for their own marketing. What you type into a form stays with us: it is never passed to the analytics above, which never sees your name or email address.
- Never in a URL. Personal data is submitted in the request body, so it does not leak into browser history, referrer headers, or server access logs.
- Unsubscribing. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes the address rather than flagging it.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will action the request. Get in touch through the contact page.
This notice covers the Africa Digital website. If you need the identity of the operating entity or its data-protection contact for a compliance file, ask us through the contact page and we will provide it in writing.
